This is a variety of hibiscus from India that produces fruits bearing small bean-shaped seeds. It is precisely these that are distilled to obtain ambrette essence. Its scent is at once musky, powdery, animalic and slightly fruity. It is accompanied by one of the most noble flowers in perfumery: iris.
