The history of Lanvin

The house of Lanvin was founded in 1889, thanks to a visionary woman. Jeanne Lanvin opened her very first boutique on the rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, an address that has since become legendary. She began her career as a milliner specialising in children's clothing. Gradually, she began catering to mothers as well, and developed a women's ready-to-wear line. It was not until the 1920s, however, that Lanvin truly rose to prominence. Jeanne Lanvin seized the opportunity to expand into multiple new worlds. She first developed a range of sportswear in 1923. Perfumery followed shortly after, in 1924, just ahead of the Lanvin lingerie line, launched in 1926.
