The beginnings of Ralph Lauren

Ralph Lauren was born in the Bronx, New York. In other words, nothing predestined him for such a future. What is more, he did not pursue higher education and left university without any qualifications. He then enlisted in the United States Army, from 1962 to 1964. Upon his return, he worked in various shops as a sales assistant. At the same time, he decided to create a collection of ties that were wider than those typically worn at the time. This range caught the eye of Norman Hilton in 1967, which prompted Ralph Lauren to open his own tie shop. Success followed immediately. The Ralph Lauren adventure had begun!
