Eau de Gloire, a plunge into the Corsican maquis by Parfum d'Empire
Far more than a simple fragrance, Eau de Gloire is a tribute. It is, in fact, a nod to all those people of Corsican origin who were forced, despite themselves, to leave their native island. Eau de Gloire is signed by perfumer Marc-Antoine Corticchiato, a creator who knows this struggle better than anyone. He was also steeped in the story of his father, a native Corsican who was compelled to migrate to Morocco at an early age. As a result, he has always carried this island deep in his heart. It is therefore the scent of this Mediterranean land that Parfum d'Empire has placed at the heart of its fragrance Eau de Gloire. As a certain Bonaparte once said: "With eyes closed, on the darkest night, if by some miracle I found myself transported to Corsica, I would recognise it at once by its smell." And that is exactly what this is about. Parfum d'Empire thus pays tribute to all those who had to leave this enchanting land, and in particular to one of its most famous exiles, Bonaparte. In this sense, Eau de Gloire is a concentrate of history that is both universal and personal, given that it partly reflects the childhood of Marc-Antoine Corticchiato.
The Mediterranean scent of Eau de Gloire
Eau de Gloire opens with typically Mediterranean ingredients: citrus fruits. In particular, one notices the sparkling and invigorating presence of mandarin. This is paired here with the subtle bitterness of bergamot. Then aromatic herbs make their appearance. Myrtle is here juxtaposed with rosemary. Nevertheless, both are softened by the sunny and sweet scent of neroli. It is at this moment that the warmth of the maquis intensifies. Immortelle is indeed one of the key notes of this essence. It is a rich, liqueur-like flower that lends a denser and more assertive personality to this composition. It is combined here with cistus and oakmoss. Finally, everything concludes with a hint of incense that elevates the whole. In other words, Eau de Gloire is a plunge into the heart of a blazing island, a true concentrate of sunshine bathed in the waters of the Mediterranean.
The Eau de Toilette Eau de Gloire by Parfum d'Empire
With Eau De Gloire, Marc-Antoine Corticchiato wanted to recount a day along an imperial trail in the Mediterranean: Bergamot, Lemon, Orange, Rosemary and Neroli refresh the first moments of the morning.
As the day unfolds, Anise, Liquorice and Tea combine for a soaring accord. In the evening, the trail takes shape with Tobacco, Incense and the Corsican Maquis exhaling Immortelle, Cistus and Oakmoss.
A trail of character and passion.
Notes: Mandarin, Myrtle, Bergamot, Immortelle, Cistus, Oakmoss.
An aromatic "Corsican maquis" with an imperial trail.
First the freshness of the citrus fruits (mandarin, bergamot), then the strength of the aromatic herbs (myrtle and rosemary). Finally, the fragrance asserts its personality with the warm accents of the wild maquis (immortelle, cistus and oakmoss) blended with incense.
Eau de Gloire leaves the imprint of an imperial trail across the Mediterranean. A world imagined by its creator to retrace the journey of those Corsicans who left their villages to conquer the world. In the image of his father, who left everything behind to settle in Morocco on land soon planted with hesperides, but also of the most celebrated among them, Bonaparte. Eau de Gloire evokes these human trajectories, at once glorious and tragic. Through perseverance and passion, this thirst for distant horizons builds empires, great and small, sometimes lost at the whim of fate.
In their minds, in their hearts, it is not a photograph of their island that Corsican exiles carry within them, but this scent of passion and character from the maquis.
"With eyes closed, on the darkest night, if by some miracle I found myself transported to Corsica, I would recognise it at once by its smell", wrote a young student at the military school of Brienne, a certain Bonaparte...
Eau de Gloire is first and foremost the freshness of darting citrus fruits, mandarin-bergamot, then the vigour of the wild mastic shrub, myrtle and rosemary softened by the sweet neroli. Very swiftly, the base of the fragrance asserts itself, allowing the warmth of the maquis to unfold with immortelle, cistus and oakmoss, mingling with tears of incense.
A trail of builders and passionate souls who never forget their roots, nor those who remained on their island – an island of immortal fragrance...
