IN THE VINEYARDS THAT MARC-ANTOINE CORTICCHIATO DISTILS INTO THIS
FESTIVE FRAGRANCE.

Sparkling and effervescent, the essences of Corsican citrus fruits – lemon, grapefruit and mandarin – fizz in the top notes, like the first refreshing sip of a well-chilled Mediterranean wine. Then a vine leaf accord unveils the rosy and eau-de-vie facets of a grape marc extract, the wine lees – undoubtedly the highest dose of this precious material ever used in a perfume. The scent of terroirs, the smell of a cellar where oak barrels line up, a soaring of iris and powdery musks for the angels' share – SALUTE ! celebrates the earth and the fruits of the earth. A mirage… A feast.

I love the connection with the land, the terroir and its energy, as expressed by the Corsican vineyard. And I have always wanted to explore the affinity between wines and perfumes.

While composing SALUTE!, I recalled my grandfather who, like many farmers of that era, produced his own wine. He stored it in enormous smoked-glass demijohns covered in wicker, kept in the cellar. Hence the earthy notes of the perfume, which I wanted to feel airy, as if to evoke the angels' share. I also had to master that overdose of wine lees, which I adore but which is notoriously difficult to control. It was thanks to the brightness of Corsican citrus fruits that I tamed it.
