Joy Forever as a response to the crisis

Joy Forever is a fragrance dating from 2013. Yet its history is far older. Indeed, a first fragrance simply called Joy had been created in 1930. It was conceived as an antidote in response to the financial crisis of 1929. It symbolised optimism and had the ambition to counter the prevailing gloom of the time. Its powerful message did not fail to captivate the entire population and it achieved great success. It was therefore entirely logical that Thomas Fontaine, perfumer for the house of Jean Patou, decided to bring this essence up to date. It must be said that the timing could not have been better, given that we find ourselves once again in quite an economic predicament! And so Joy Forever came into being. It retains the luxury and quality of former times. Through it, the brand Jean Patou wishes to emphasise that, whatever crises may arise, women always feel a genuine need to treat themselves and to feel beautiful. Joy Forever thus appears as a tribute to this happiness and this unapologetic carefree spirit. It inspires a desire to live whatever the circumstances and, at the same time, paints the picture of a free and independent femininity.

The feminine fragrance crafted by Jean Patou

Of course, with such a name, Joy Forever could only retain the identity of the iconic fragrance Joy. Like its predecessor, it is a kind of enormous bouquet of flowers. However, while rose and jasmine were once present in overdose, they are today more discreet. This very elegant duo is combined with the sunny luminosity of orange blossom. Likewise, one of the noblest flowers makes its appearance: iris. This floral bouquet is then refreshed by a blend of citrus fruits. Bergamot displays its bitterness while mandarin releases its tangy facet. Iran galbanum, for its part, brings a burst of greenery. Peach, however, counterbalances this effect by adding a very velvety, fruity touch to the whole. Finally, Joy Forever evolves towards a more woody base of sandalwood and cedar. Amber and white musks then bind everything together with a touch of elegance. Similarly, the bottle of Joy Forever is also greatly inspired by that of Joy, designed in its time by the brilliant architect Louis Süe. Like a precious jewel, one must admit that it has not aged a bit and still displays an unparalleled elegance.
