Jean-Louis Scherrer is a fashion designer specialised in the world of Haute Couture. Born in Paris in 1935, he began his career at the house of Dior before launching his own brand. Very quickly, he was recognised for his talent and became a symbol of Parisian chic with worldwide renown. His first collection was shown in 1962 in a Parisian wine cellar. It was only 10 years later that Jean-Louis Scherrer decided to set up at 51 avenue Montaigne in Paris, an address that would become iconic. Nevertheless, one had to wait until 1979 to see the first fragrant creation from the house. It made an immediate impression and enjoyed its moment of glory in the 1980s. The Jean-Louis Scherrer fragrance was presented as a reinterpretation of a floral, aldehydic and chypré juice typical of the 1950s to 1970s. It has many qualities, except that of discretion. It is in the image of a graphic, fitted suit – simultaneously sober yet adorned with oversized shoulder pads that no one expects. Likewise, civet and musk contribute to making the whole composition particularly sensual.
