How far would one go for love? A passionate opera lover, Jacques Guerlain finds the answer to this ultimate question in the lyricism of Puccini's opera Turandot and of Liu, one of the heroines of this love story. By drawing her olfactory portrait, the perfumer pays tribute to a woman ready to make every sacrifice for the man she loves, and imagines the legend of a rare, unconditional love. In this aldehydic floral, flights of jasmine and rose sing the aria of a carnal sensuality, vibrating with iris and vanilla against a backdrop of woody notes. Liu is an olfactory poem in which the aldehydes play one of their most beautiful roles. They dominate the top note and announce, like cymbals, the entrance of rose and jasmine, which brilliantly unfurl the grand aria of sensuality. Like a musical work, the fragrance must have a calm and voluptuous development. Mission accomplished, for very quickly the vanilla blends its carnal accents with those of iris and woody notes.
Jasmine: the jasmine grandiflorum absolute comes primarily from India. The flower is first processed as a concrete, then transformed into an absolute. Jasmine grandiflorum, harvested at dawn, gives the perfume a green and fruity jasmine note.
Rose: Harvested in Bulgaria and too delicate to travel, the rose is transformed on-site into an essential oil through steam distillation and/or direct fire distillation. The rose essence gives the perfume a floral and fruity note.
