The escapism of Parfum d'Empire
Most of the fragrances from the brand Parfum d'Empire are true invitations to travel. Cuir Ottaman is no exception. This fragrance is inspired by «the eroticism and mystery of the Orient». Its name could not be clearer: it is a homage to the Ottoman Empire, whose epic began in the 14th century with the conquest of Byzantium. It was then one of the greatest powers in Europe and the Middle East. Furthermore, this empire was marked by numerous artistic and intellectual movements that greatly contributed to establishing its magnificence and lushness. Cuir Ottaman is a perfume of images. Its scent alone is enough to conjure visions reminiscent of the Arabian Nights. Imagine: the magic of the harems, the beautiful Scheherazade dancing before admiring men, tanned animal hides, the scents of spices and flowers… All of this lies at the heart of Cuir Ottaman. Moreover, Marc-Antoine Corticchiato, the perfumer behind its creation, had no difficulty crafting this essence. He spent most of his childhood in Morocco and even admits that Cuir Ottaman is the fragrance that required the least amount of time to create. Yet it is undeniably crafted with extraordinary brilliance and exceptional expertise.
Cuir Ottaman, a concentrate of sensuality
As its name suggests, Cuir Ottaman is a leather-scented fragrance, both powerful and iridescent. Its assertive character makes it a perfume appreciated primarily by seasoned fragrance lovers. If it is so steeped in leather, it is also because this is one of Marc-Antoine Corticchiato's favourite olfactory notes. He has nonetheless chiselled it with smoky styrax fumes and woody birch notes. Likewise, iris brings a more precious dimension to this composition, unveiling its powdery and elegant nuances. Resins also render the whole even more oriental. Incense and benzoin form a particularly oriental combination. Tonka bean, for its part, makes Cuir Ottaman a more enveloping juice. Finally, its tobacco facet evokes the laziness of hookahs. Egyptian jasmine ultimately sublimates everything with its white, rich and opulent flesh.
The Eau de Parfum Cuir Ottoman by Parfum d'Empire
Cuir Ottoman is an iridescent leather that reveals the Eroticism, Mystery and charm of the Orient. It is the exoticism of an Orient dreamed and fantasised by the West, a journey into the heart of a starlit blue night.
Precious iris opens the opulent heart of Egyptian jasmine. The leather note is faceted by burnt styrax, to which tolu balsam and benzoin resin are added, massaging the musky skin of languid bodies. Cistus, vanilla and tonka bean are the languorous songs that whisper in the moist softness of the harem.
Tears of incense dissolve into intoxicating wisps of smoke rising from hookahs. The man, the sultan, the only one permitted to enter this place of voluptuousness, finally arrives, carrying upon him the scent of the horseman. The expected contrast to unleash eroticism.
Powerful and iridescent leather, a concentrate of oriental sensuality.
Leather steeped in iris, faceted by cistus and warmed by burnt styrax, trailing in its wake the intoxicating notes of oriental perfumes — tolu balsam, benzoin resin and tears of incense... The fragrance becomes opulent with Egyptian jasmine, then rounds out with vanilla and tonka bean. And Cuir Ottoman becomes languid skin offered to the vapours of the hammam...
Rare in perfumery because its assertive character makes it the sillage of connoisseurs, leather is one of Marc-Antoine Corticchiato's favourite notes. He has chiselled his personal interpretation around the smoky fumes of burnt styrax and birch.
The trail of the Ottoman Empire is suggested to him by the thousand-year history of leather in Anatolia — until the 19th century, Turkish leathers were the most prized. And upon learning that very often the smell of these leathers was softened by the more powdery scent of iris, he adorns his composition with this precious material that already presents leathery facets...
The balsams and resins of the Arabian Nights impose themselves to languidify the accord. Tears of incense and benzoin resin with vanilla accents call upon vanilla, which forms, along with cistus, the heart of oriental perfumes... Tonka bean lends them its gourmand accents; its tobacco facet marries the leather while evoking the lazy smoke of hookahs. To fully intoxicate this leather of the Orient, an Egyptian jasmine with white and opulent flesh like that of the odalisques beloved by painters, from Delacroix to Matisse, unfurls its hypnotic fragrant drifts...
Is the Orient not always dreamed of?
