Vétiver Bourbon
Eau de Parfum

A material perfume that exalts the wild character of this precious essence. Vetiver embraces its bold, uncompromising character here. More than that: its virility. For while it has long anchored masculine sillages, it has most often done so in a polished, urban, tamed form. In Vétiver Bourbon, Marc-Antoine Corticchiato frees it from its overly civilised manners to restore its native elegance. That of a raw material which, in its crude state, is a perfume in itself – unique and full of contrasts.
A tribute perfume evoking the iconic vetiver Bourbon that gives it its name, now exceedingly rare as it has almost entirely disappeared from the island of La Réunion where it was once widely cultivated. With its fresh, green, aromatic facets as well as earthy, mossy and woody notes, it is the richest and most complete vetiver essence. The reference quality of the ingredient.
A landscape perfume that evokes the harvesting of the fragrant root in the early morning mist, at the precise moment when this robust root is drawn from the earth – a memory of Marc-Antoine Corticchiato's travels to the former Île Bourbon. A volcanic landscape resurfacing through the mineral facets of the vetiver Bourbon essence.
Vétiver Bourbon exacerbates the earthy nature of this essence, here used in extreme proportions, intertwining it with the notes of two roots. Angelica, herbaceous, musky, peppery, spiked with a burning clove from Madagascar. And finely woody iris, illuminated by the limpid clarity of ambrette seed.
An untamed vetiver, torn from the soil of the island of La Réunion.
« With Lucien Acquarone, my companion from the maquis and bush, a great wizard of fragrant plant distillation, we often passed through La Réunion on our way to or from Madagascar. We would buy essential oils of vetiver Bourbon there, and more than once, in the early morning, we witnessed the exhausting harvest on the island's plantations. This grass of impressive robustness, capable of withstanding even cyclones, helps combat soil erosion and its cultivation bolsters fragile economies. This gave us the idea of attempting a vetiver production in Madagascar, using mother plants from La Réunion. This adventure allowed us to grasp the difficulties involved in growing vetiver. It also gave me the desire to work with all the facets and contrasts of this vetiver Bourbon. Its roots character as much as its nobility. »
