Equistrius, the sensual iris of Parfum d'Empire

As always, Parfum d'Empire called upon perfumer Marc-Antoine Corticchiato to create the fragrance Equistrius. This time, it is an essence directly inspired by the life and passion of this creator. Indeed, since his earliest childhood, Marc-Antoine Corticchiato has been passionate about horse riding. A skilled equestrian, he even came close to becoming a professional show jumper. Nevertheless, plants got the better of him and drew him away from that destiny. Yet, this creator does not seem to have entirely erased that period from his memory. Furthermore, Equistrius was the name of his finest horse. He described him as a «luminous and brilliant horse», capable of winning ever more glorious victories. It is therefore all the perfumer's love for his favourite animal that shines through in this fragrance. It displays an extraordinary generosity. The finest raw materials are present in high concentration, and passion seems to be the very essence of this exceptional juice.

The nobility of Equistrius

As you will have gathered, Equistrius is an olfactory tribute to a noble animal dear to the perfumer's heart. It is therefore only natural that he chose one of the most precious and prestigious ingredients in the entire perfumer's palette to express it. Equistrius is thus a concentrate of iris. This iris arrives directly from Florence and delivers all its opulence. This flower, considered the messenger of the gods, is here crafted like an olfactory rainbow. It provides us with an exquisite serenity combined with a very elegant floral intensity. Moreover, this flower has been recognised since Roman antiquity for its soothing properties. These were particularly sought after by apothecaries, who did not hesitate to use it to scent the wigs of great aristocrats. Additionally, iris also holds a distinctive note of rice powder. This is very present at the heart of the fragrance Equistrius. Nevertheless, this essence also contains a woodier facet. Its ambrette butter, meanwhile, appears fruitier and muskier. Sandalwood, on the other hand, lays an almost milky layer on the skin, while grey amber accentuates its sensuality. Finally, for an added touch of indulgence, Parfum d'Empire has included a most unexpected chocolate note in its composition. The whole reveals itself to be particularly elegant and refined.

The Eau de Parfum Equistrius by Parfum d'Empire

Equistrius by Parfum d'Empire. Iris expresses itself in majesty.

Three extracts originating from Florence vibrate throughout the fragrance.

To the powdery effects of «rice powder» and the floral quality of violet, a gourmand note with unprecedented chocolate tonalities is added, revealing an unknown personality of this mythical plant.

The iris of Equistrius is magnified by rare and intense ambrette butter, which languidly musks the base.

Precious and sophisticated, grey amber and sandalwood lend Equistrius its addictive, powdery sensuality.

An iris of intimate sensuality.

Three extracts of Florentine iris unfurl the facets of perfumery's most precious raw material: violet, rice powder, suede, and even an unprecedented accent of chocolate. Rare and intense, ambrette butter melts into it with notes of natural plant musk. Grey amber and sandalwood envelop Equistrius in a powdery veil.

Equistrius, an elegant and thoroughbred trail.

It is the homage to Equistrius, the «shining horse» who brought him his finest victories, that Marc-Antoine Corticchiato, a competitive equestrian, named after the noblest of materials, inspired by the noblest conquest of man...

Iris is opulent like Florence, which made it its emblem, iridescent like the rainbow on which Iris, the messenger of the gods, travelled. Its scent of serene grandeur is extracted not from the flower but from its rhizome, from which a butter is derived that must age for several years to express itself.

Since Roman antiquity, iris has enriched the palette of perfumers as well as that of apothecaries, who found in it soothing virtues; it envelops the wigs of aristocrats in its fragrance — it is to iris that we owe the note of «rice powder».

Equistrius plays on this contrast between the powdery facets of iris and its more austere accents. It melds into the skin thanks to the fruity and musky ambrette butter. The milky sandalwood and the warmth of grey amber accentuate its sensuality. And it is the chocolate note nestled in the heart of an astonishing iris extract that finally reveals the secret voluptuousness of this austerely elegant fragrance...
