Réminiscence revisits one of its legends

In 1970, the Réminiscence brand caused quite a stir with the launch of its Patchouli perfume. It was then a fragrance composed predominantly of this raw material that was at once dark, smoky and heady. As a result, this juice very quickly became the emblematic scent of an entire generation. Furthermore, Patchouli was for a long time associated with the hippie movement of that era. In 2015, Réminiscence therefore decided to take the opposite approach to this legendary fragrance. As its name suggests, patchouli is completely reinvented here. It is now an «olfactory variation around white». It was the perfumer Fabrice Pellegrin, already the creator of six Réminiscence fragrances, who took charge of this creation. He crafted a more refined and modernised version of the brand's celebrated Patchouli. Thus, Patchouli Blanc proves more sensual than ever. Its purpose is to highlight the full femininity of its wearer. Luminosity is more present than ever, bringing a fresh perspective to the image of patchouli, an ingredient that has so often been the subject of controversy.

The new personality of Patchouli Blanc

However, do not be mistaken in thinking that Patchouli Blanc hides a lack of personality beneath its transparency. Indeed, while it represents a complete break from its predecessor, it reveals a scent that is equally powerful and possessed of a strong character. It thus anchors itself fully within the lineage of Réminiscence fragrances, making a real nod to its forerunner while remaining distinctly different. Patchouli Blanc opens with a flight of aldehydes paired with a most refreshing touch of star anise. Its airy opening then gives way to a more floral heart. This heart is notably laden with hawthorn, a raw material with tender, powdery accents. Sandalwood then enriches the whole with its creaminess. The musks, for their part, blend with woodier notes for even greater sensuality. Finally, Patchouli Blanc leaves behind a slightly ambery trail for a most captivating result. Patchouli is here simply evoked at its heart, worked in a particularly luminous manner for a result of absolute purity.

This oriental woody musky fragrance is a creation by Fabrice Pellegrin, a long-standing partner of the Reminiscence house; in order to preserve the white colour of the fragrance, its creator chose a combination of «white» notes. The perfume opens with a burst of aldehydes refreshed by a touch of star anise. The heart is floral, with delicate hawthorn notes. The base is built around the star ingredient: patchouli, intensified by the nobility and strength of sandalwood, supported by an accord of white musk and ambergris.
