To celebrate this entry into a new era as it deserves, Nina Ricci called upon two talented perfumers, namely Sophie Labbé and Carlos Benaïm. Together they crafted a particularly luminous fragrance. This is already apparent from its very opening. The top notes of Premier Jour feature in particular the airy transparency of the «morning dew» gardenia combined with the impertinence of yellow mandarin. This fresh impulse then evolves towards a sweeter, more carnal tenderness. Sweet pea is here associated with the exotic unctuousness of the vanilla orchid. At this point, Premier Jour moves towards a warmer, more enveloping intimacy. Its heart resembles a second skin of white sugared almonds. Finally, its scent slowly drifts towards a base of Mysore sandalwood, Mahaleb cedarwood and musk. Moreover, the bottle itself is also a complete work of art. The Premier Jour flacon consists of two superimposed and off-centred cylinders. These reflect the essence within, displaying multiple contrasts. They are at once symbols of rupture and harmony, of roundness and rigidity. The transparency of one is crowned by the opacity of the other. Yet together they form an absolutely sublime harmony.
