In 2017, Zadig et Voltaire stated loud and clear: « Girls can do anything » and decided to print the message on a basic white T-shirt, which then became a committed mantra in a world that increasingly highlights women's empowerment. In 2018, the brand went further and introduced a new feminine fragrance, resolutely feminine and feminist, reprising the message launched the previous year: « Girls can do anything » is a fragrance that embodies « the radiant, uncomplicated and impertinent neo-feminism of the house of Zadig et Voltaire », as the brand likes to say. « Sweep away conventions with nonchalance, revoke the established order, surprise with jubilation, dare the unexpected, with exhilaration, multiply the experiences » – these are the principles that Zadig et Voltaire wishes to convey by launching this new fragrance. For the brand, which has carved out a prominent place in the fashion world, having a perfume is also the opportunity not to be confined to a single world – that of fashion – but to offer a strong identity to those who wear its clothes, giving them the feeling of belonging to a family and to the brand's history.

A singular composition inherited from the masculine world

It is perfumer Quentin Bisch, trained at Givaudan and already acclaimed for his work at Gaultier and Mugler, who signs this daring composition: he chose to break with tradition by incorporating the fougère family – generally found in masculine fragrances – into a feminine perfume, a risk that the nose considers to reflect « the spirit of the times ». This daring composition opens on a fruity and sparkling bouquet of bergamot, pear and orange blossom. This lightness and freshness dissolve into a heart of tonka bean that flirts with a base leaving an exquisite trail, at once modern and slightly masculine, of musk, ambroxan and fougère, all enhanced by musky vanilla, the olfactory signature of all Zadig et Voltaire fragrances. The result is a surprising composition that does not leave one indifferent, owing to its unusual makeup for a feminine perfume.

Nevertheless, to evoke the femininity of the fragrance, the brand's artistic director opted for a glass bottle letting a rosy juice show through. On the water-bottle-shaped flacon – a coincidence born during a brainstorming meeting in which the brand's founder was quenching his thirst with a bottle of water – stands out a cabochon whose relief recalls the buckle of a boot design created by Zadig et Voltaire. Girls can do anything is a name imbued with a powerful message: a positive message embodying an uncomplicated and highly affirmed feminism that plays with codes.
