The grand return of the Lumière Eau de Toilette by Rochas
Two years after its acquisition by the Procter & Gamble group, Rochas appears to be changing strategy and reconnecting with its heritage. Indeed, the brand has decided to revive some of its dormant myths. To do so, it has chosen to re-release some of its great lost classics, such as Byzance and Lumière. And it is precisely the latter that we are talking about here. The Lumière Eau de Toilette is back, as if to pay tribute to the legacy of this house through a fresh, floral and very feminine flight.
The luminosity of the Lumière Eau de Toilette
Lumière is a fragrance from the house of Rochas dating back to 1984, originally created to highlight the harmony between body and soul. The Lumière Eau de Toilette therefore appears, like its predecessor, as a kind of spiritual recognition of feminine beauty. Its crystalline light releases essential values such as clarity, warmth, radiance and truth. Everything begins with a limpid, airy and fruity composition. The delicacy of lily of the valley is combined with the freshness of honeysuckle. Peach and plum make this opening more sparkling, juicy and velvety. Likewise, these notes lend the fragrance a slightly indulgent character. This sensation continues in the heart of the Lumière Eau de Toilette thanks to the presence of apricot, a fruit of absolutely irresistible tenderness. It is here combined with an enormous floral bouquet. It is precisely at this moment that the full femininity of the Rochas woman is revealed. The Lumière Eau de Toilette harmoniously blends rose, heliotrope and iris. The result is a juice that is at once very feminine, elegant and romantic. The whole gradually gains in sensuality until a base of vanilla, sandalwood and white musk is finally revealed. The Lumière Eau de Toilette is a candid and delicate fragrance, at once very sophisticated and sensual, exactly in the image of its predecessor.
A bottle we are not unfamiliar with
Furthermore, the tribute to Rochas' heritage does not stop there. The Lumière Eau de Toilette is presented in the iconic bottle of the Madame Rochas fragrance from 1960. She had envisioned a perfume that would «perpetuate the elegance of Rochas, while reflecting the spirit of the independent woman I had become», she said. At the time, this bottle was a small revolution in the world of Rochas. It was the very first to abandon the emblematic amphora shape that had adorned all of the brand's feminine creations. The Lumière Eau de Toilette is presented in a case featuring eight cut facets, topped with a hinged gold cap. As a little piece of history, this design was inspired by a janusette — a small 18th-century smelling-salts bottle discovered by Marcel Rochas himself. In other words, this new fragrance is an immersion into the intimate history of the Rochas family, an invitation to better understand the prestigious heritage of this exceptional brand.
