1881 is a landmark date in the history of the Cerruti house. It marks the creation of the family textile business in Biella, in the Italian Piedmont. In 1990, Nino Cerutti decided to pay tribute to his grandfather by naming one of his 1881 fragrances. Very quickly, he turned it into a star essence of the house, which was revisited on numerous occasions. The brand-new 1881 Sport is therefore yet another variation of its scent. This limited edition aims to be particularly fresh. It symbolises an image of very masculine strength and features a classic structure enriched with original ingredients.

The typically masculine scent of the new Cerruti

Cerruti 1881 Sport is a fragrance built around a fougère accord. This is indeed a very widespread scent in men's perfumery, particularly appreciated by men for its freshness. Cerruti 1881 Sport also opens on bergamot tones. This fruit, resulting from a cross between the lemon tree and the bitter orange, immediately brings a zesty, tangy and sparkling scent. This is at once floral and soft. It is particularly emblematic of the top notes of Colognes. Then another typically masculine ingredient comes to enhance this fragrance. This is lavender. This plant brings an aromatic, floral, camphoraceous and woody scent. It is then combined with cardamom, the fruit of a plant mainly cultivated in India, Indonesia or Guatemala. The latter comes to heighten the character of Cerruti 1881 Sport with its spicy, aniseed and aldehydic notes. Finally, everything closes on a woodier scent. This is rich in cedar, a wood with a green, dry and resinous aroma, as well as vetiver, a symbol of virility that instantly evokes the scent of the undergrowth or incense.

The virility of the 1881 Sport fragrance

This very masculine fragrance is housed in a bottle greatly inspired by those of its predecessors. It is cut on a bevel. Completely transparent, it reflects light and immediately projects a very fresh and vigorous image. This case also plays on the contrasts between its sandblasted glass and its polished glass. This gives Cerruti 1881 Sport a formidable sense of modernity, as does its matte black cap, which is very masculine and virile. Finally, of course, the number 1881 appears in an inner engraving, soberly recalling the year the brand was founded.
As for the face of the campaign, it is the model Andres Valencoso who embodies this new essence. He was photographed by the talented Richard Phibbs. He looks as though he has just stepped out of a business meeting. He even uses his tie as a boxer's hand wrap. This advertisement for the new Cerruti 1881 Sport displays a disarmingly natural charm. It portrays the image of an athletic man — a kind of embodiment of a sound mind in a sound body. Cerruti 1881 Sport resonates as a sort of ideal to be achieved, attracting, in fact, all desires.
