Cerruti 1881 Essentiel embraces a new freshness

Cerruti is one of the greatest luxury fashion and prêt-à-porter houses. Founded in 1967 in Paris by Italian designer Nino Cerruti, it actually has a much older history. It all began in 1880 when the grandfather of this great family opened a wool spinning and weaving factory. The first Cerruti menswear boutique appeared in 1957. However, the brand name was not registered until 10 years later. As if to celebrate the beginnings of its history, Cerruti decided to create a fragrance named 1881, in 1990. Today, its iconic scent is once again reinterpreted and embraces a new freshness in the form of Cerruti 1881 Essentiel.

1881, a date that became a great olfactory collection

Initially, when the brand decided to create this fragrance, the idea was to convey «the raw freshness of water springing from the rock». The very first Cerruti 1881 is a typically Italian-inspired juice. It plunges us into the heart of the elements that shaped this family business until it grew and rose to the rank of a luxury empire. Cerruti 1881 is akin to a stroll in the shade of cypress trees and umbrella pines. Yet its elegance has managed to transform itself over time. Since 1990, Cerruti 1881 has continuously seen variations of its scent appear, becoming in turn Cerruti 1881 pour Femme in 1995, Cerruti 1881 Amber in 2002, Cerruti 1881 Eau d'Été in 2004, Cerruti 1881 Black in 2006, Cerruti 1881 Intense in 2008, Cerruti 1881 Fair Play in 2011, Cerruti 1881 Acqua Forte in 2013, Cerruti 1881 Bella Notte in 2014, Cerruti 1881 Edition Blanche et Sport in 2015 or Cerruti 1881 Signature in 2017. Today, it becomes Cerruti 1881 Essentiel.

In terms of scent, Cerruti 1881 Essentiel materialises through a bursting and vibrant energy. This authentic fragrance is akin to a radiant and luminous escape beneath the brilliant sun of Italy. To achieve this, it first brings together several citrus notes such as mandarin, grapefruit, citrus and bergamot. Cerruti 1881 Essentiel awakens the senses and captivates us with its aromas of pink pepper. Basil lends it a more Mediterranean, aromatic quality. Finally, as proof of all its sophistication and masculinity, Cerruti 1881 Essentiel closes with a trail of cedar, vetiver and oakmoss. The whole evokes the image of an epicurean and refined man, in perfect harmony with nature, embodied for the occasion by model Andres Velencoso.

As if to echo the freshness of its juice and the sea air that emanates from the Italian land along the Mediterranean, Cerruti 1881 Essentiel comes in a fully transparent bottle. Highly inspired by its predecessors, this container seems imbued with authenticity. The numbers 1881 are engraved in the glass and revealed in transparency. Its bevelled angles reflect the light and capture the slightest ray of sun. Its solid base affirms the full determination of the masculine spirit. Finally, for an added touch of modernity, Cerruti 1881 Essentiel is topped with a metallic grey cap.
