Courrèges is one of the most iconic fashion houses of the 1960s and 70s. It made its mark notably through its above-the-knee dresses, flat shoes, short coats and pop colours. Courrèges then also ventured into fragrance creation. The brand is today considered one of the most iconic names in contemporary perfumery. In fact, it has recently been multiplying its new creations at an impressive pace. Most of the time, these are unisex fragrances or feminine perfumes. Yet, this time Courrèges has decided to break the mould and delivers a masculine juice simply named, with total sobriety, Courrèges Homme.

A look back at Courrèges' masculine creations

In reality, this is not the very first time that Courrèges has ventured into men's creations. The first menswear collection by Courrèges was designed in 1973 and brought together haute couture pieces intended for an active and dynamic man. The first male ambassador of Courrèges was none other than astronaut Patrick Baudry. Shortly after the launch of this menswear line, Courrèges decided to go further by creating the fragrance FH77. André Courrèges explained: «I had a precise idea: I wanted an Eau de Toilette to wear with joy, with an original, strong and very masculine, warm and enveloping scent. I called it FH 77, F for Formula, H for Homme, and 77 for the year of its birth, or twice 7, a lucky number.» However, the name of this fragrance had to be changed in 1982 as it also designated a Swedish military howitzer. It was at that point that it was named Courrèges Homme. In the meantime, the marketing of this juice was discontinued and the new Courrèges Homme is truly an original creation.

The new Courrèges Homme fragrance

Courrèges Homme is a typically masculine fragrance. It is presented in an imposing cubic-shaped bottle. Full of contrasts, it displays two colours that seem to fit perfectly together, in the manner of Yin and Yang. One part of this bottle is completely transparent. The other is covered in an opaque black shade. The visual of this bottle is at once pure, futuristic and virile. The word «homme» is proudly displayed on one of its sides in capital letters that do not go unnoticed. Courrèges Homme thus hints at a particularly masculine fragrance. Indeed, this perfume places one of the most emblematic aromatic ingredients in men's perfumery at the heart of its composition: lavender. This aromatic plant is tickled by the incandescent presence of spices. Thus, Courrèges Homme is a fragrance for men who are not afraid to be noticed and who display a somewhat impertinent character. Finally, as if to sublimate the masculinity of this juice, Courrèges Homme concludes with a woodier trail.
