Empreinte, the first fragrance by Courrèges
Courrèges is a fashion house founded by André Courrèges in 1961. This brand can truly pride itself on having left its mark on the world of fashion and design of its era. Indeed, at a time when Haute Couture was still steeped in very strict codes, Courrèges had the ambition to free women from all vestimentary constraints. Thus, Courrèges favoured garments with clean lines. The house did not hesitate to shorten dresses and skirts, while at the same time reinventing trousers and bringing capri pants and shorts sets into fashion. Courrèges fashion mirrored the evolution of society, which seemed to awaken day after day. After a very successful start in the fashion sector, Courrèges decided to extend its activity in 1971 to the world of perfumery. Empreinte was the very first fragrance to be created by the house. It is therefore entirely natural that it stands as a mythical and symbolic perfume of Courrèges. It pays tribute to the brand's innovative spirit and the daring of its contemporaries, much like Neil Armstrong, who had just set foot on the Moon in 1969. In olfactory terms, this translates into a highly sensual scent aimed at a somewhat avant-garde woman.
The intensity of Empreinte by Courrèges
It was perfumer Robert Gonnon who was entrusted with creating this very first fragrance for Courrèges. Empreinte is a scent that does not go unnoticed. It is both rich and vibrant, opening with a striking freshness. This combines the bitterness of Calabrian bergamot with the fruitier aspect of Brazilian mandarin. The aldehydes, for their part, are more radiant than ever. Empreinte then evolves towards a more floral and very feminine heart. This particularly highlights the queen of flowers: the rose. Empreinte contains two varieties in particular: the May rose and the Bulgarian rose. Both are accompanied by an Indian jasmine handled with great lightness. Finally, Empreinte closes with a more enveloping and intense sillage. This combines Mysore sandalwood with its Australian counterpart, as well as Bourbon vetiver and Virginia cedar. Likewise, Indonesian patchouli underscores the whole with an elegant power, while oakmoss and leather only serve to reinforce its sensuality.
