Réminiscence and its love for «solinotes»

Réminiscence is a perfume house that remains somewhat under the radar. Nevertheless, it is particularly renowned for its mastery of solinotes. In other words, Réminiscence delights in crafting fragrances built predominantly around a single raw material. Of course, this is accompanied by other olfactory accents. However, these are relegated to the background and serve solely to support the star element of the composition. As the name of this essence suggests, it is the tonka bean that takes centre stage in this fragrance. To create this exceptional juice, Réminiscence collaborated with the very famous Chantal Roos, a true legend in the perfumery industry and also the first president of Beauté Prestige Internationale. However, the actual composition of the fragrance is owed to perfumer Fabrice Pellegrin. He is a regular contributor to Réminiscence's creations and is by no means a newcomer. This time, he worked around the different olfactory facets of the tonka bean, using three types of extraction of this raw material.

The complex scent of the Tonka bean

Tonka reveals, at first, a facet reminiscent of liquorice. Indeed, its slightly almond-like scent is paired with a hint of anise. Its generally smooth and creamy odour is here more robust than usual. Nevertheless, Tonka simultaneously offers a lightly honeyed accord. This is precisely dosed, in stark contrast to most fragrances of this type, which are often too oily or syrupy. Then, its heart unveils a true surge of bitterness, softened however by a lightly caramelised nuance. Jasmine is also present to lend the whole composition a more floral dimension. The scent then gradually evolves to echo other raw materials such as tobacco, benzoin, gingerbread or star anise. Close your eyes and it could almost give you the impression of smelling a cake adorned with raisins and cinnamon. This fragrance thus manages to be seductive from its very first wafts, while successively revealing many facets of its character. It becomes terribly addictive in this way, at once warm, rounded and generous. What is more, its particularly sweet scent will delight the most indulgent of fragrance lovers.
