"Design is not for philosophy it’s for life" ISSEY MIYAKE
His most noteworthy discoveries include the pleat press dedicated to the “Pleats Please” line, the computer-assisted manufacture of garments pre-cut from a large bolt of jersey fabric for the “A-POC” line and more recently, the combination of maths and art in clothing to create the “132.5 ISSEY MIYAKE” collection of origami clothing designed with software developed by a young Japanese mathematician. These garments are an incredible technical feat featuring high-performance pleats that shape women’s bodies into amazing sculptures of textile. The same concept was used for the creation of the “IN-EI” (Japanese for shadow) lighting collection.
ISSEY MIYAKE hasn’t finished making fashion “bend” to his will. “I never look at the past when creating. I always conduct my research for the future.” ISSEY MIYAKE
Just like his fashion, his fragrance creations are universal, in harmony with life, accessible to all. They perfectly illustrate his world: simple, easy to wear, pure and modern.
“I believe that the fragrance of a woman who places water on her skin is the most beautiful, the purist in the world...” ISSEY MIYAKE
